I have toyed with the idea of starting a blog for years. I had things to say. Ask my family, friends and students and they would probably agree. When I taught elementary school, I was just too busy teaching, leading and creating curriculum. Facebook then opened to more than college students and I joined and had another vehicle of expression. Starting a blog was put on the back burner. I then moved back home from SC to become the primary caregiver for my mother. It was a big transition and I then I took on tutoring high school students in a classical tutorial part-time. I was busy tending to mom who has Alzheimer’s and again creating curriculum, reading literature, philosophy and literature and interacting with students. Things I had to say were often addressed in the classroom. Twitter came and that opened another opportunity to interact and share ideas with others: friends and strangers. However, sometimes one needs more that 144 characters to express an idea. More acquaintances began blogging, and then my sister started blogging and I thought about it again. Now summer is beginning and I am finally starting a blog.
G. K. Chesterton, said, “Art, like morality, consists of drawing the line somewhere.” On this blog, a line will be clearly drawn, unlike our culture where the lines are often blurred. I invite you to come along with me as I reflect on truth, goodness and beauty. I have a viewpoint and look forward to sharing that with you. Join the discussion.
Is there something you should start that you have been putting off?
